2024 AFL Season
With the 2024 AFL season commencing on the 7th March we have taken a detailed look at the key Irish contingent involved. The 2023 season was a decent one for the Irish with 147 games, 37 goals and 2,317 disposals accumulated by 10 players.
The same 10 players will be involved in the 2024 however two players, Fionn O'Hara and Cian McBride, have been released by Hawthorn and Essendon respectively but neither player made a senior appearance last year.

There are an additional 4 players who have picked up AFL contracts for 2024, Karl Gallagher from Monaghan has joined Adelaide, Liam O'Connell from Cork has joined St Kilda while Kerry's Rob Monahan and Longford's Matt Duffy have both signed contracts with Carlton. Unfortunately for Duffy he has suffered an ACL injury and will remain in Ireland until the 2025 pre-season. We expect these 4 new recruits to spend the majority of year one learning the skills of the game while honing these in the lower divisions of the VFL and SANFL.
